Psy’Aviah feat. Sorrow Stories – Healing EP

Psy'Aviah feat. Sorrow Stories - Healing EP

PSY’AVIAH is now closing the “Bittersweet” chapter in beauty with Yves Schelpe’s stunning collaboration with Tina Forlorn of SORROW STORIES. “Healing” is maybe the most representative song from this conceptual album after all, where you can realize that, “there is joy in pain and that tears can taste so sweet”… A more laid-back melancholic dark pop song with strong highly expressive vocals leading breakbeat arrangements and sinister melodic synth-lines.

For the occasion of this new EP release, both artists recorded together an exclusive bonus song: “Heaven Is Not Enough” that mixes metaphorical lyrics, sorrowful atmospheres with more upbeat dark electronics. A touching piece of work playing with double meanings and questioning whether dreaming of death to feel alive makes any sense when “Heaven is not enough” and might be your new Hell… a sort of beginning of the finale in a place where there is no conclusion because you need to recreate yourself altogether!?

PSY’AVIAH here again gets joined by a bunch of artists from various music scenes including some noticeable usual partners in crimes to serve us a more than eclectic cocktail of remixes including AESTHETISCHE, PEOPLE THEATRE, AIBOFORCEN Eric C. Powell, Eva X, NATURES OF WIRES, ENEMY INFESTATION, 13TH ANGEL and 11GRAMS…

And always remember on bittersweet days, that in pain there’s strength to be found… It can’t always be sunshine!

This Bandcamp release includes an exclusive booklet with lyrics plus 2 bonus remixes by LECTREAU (Passenger A from METROLAND) and DYNALECTRIC ORCHESTRA!

Various Artists – A strange play vol.2 – an alfa matrix tribute to The Cure 2CD

Various Artists – A strange play vol.2 – an alfa matrix tribute to The Cure 2CD

In the world of modern rock, THE CURE stands as a shining beacon of creativity and inspiration. For more than four decades, this legendary British band, led by the enigmatic Robert Smith, has been synonymous with groundbreaking contributions to alternative, post-punk, and gothic rock. While THE CURE’s music often carries a touch of melancholy, their spellbinding melodies have uplifted and motivated countless fans across the globe.

In November 2014, Alfa Matrix unveiled a tribute album to THE CURE titled “A Strange Play – An Alfa Matrix Tribute To The Cure.” Fast forward nine years, and we’re thrilled to present a fresh tribute with vol.2 in the series featuring electro, synth pop, EBM acts from the label but also more cold wave, post punk, gothic rock oriented bands from our Spleen+ division.

And while we are all patiently waiting for the ever-delayed release of THE CURE’s new studio album(s) (!?), let us all enjoy the 27 cover versions gathered on this compilation, reexploring the band’s amazing discography through takes on classic hit songs but also more obscure B-tracks. These cover versions bringing forward unexpected details from the original songs or giving them a total new sonic perspective.

Compiled by and for THE CURE fans, we are joined in this new tribute adventure by the growing roster of Spleen+ artists NOEMI AURORA, STAR INDUSTRY, IMJUDAS, THE ULTIMATE DREAMERS, THE BREATH OF LIFE or yet LOVELORN DOLLS, but also synth & elektro cult and upcoming Alfa Matrix acts in the likes of NEUROACTIVE, ARMAGEDDON DILDOS, IMPLANT, DARKNESS ON DEMAND (ex-DANCE OR DIE), HELLE9 (ALIEN VAMPIRES side-project), METROLAND, AESTHETISCHE feat. ZOMBIE GIRL, AIBOFORCEN, TECHNOIR, KANT KINO, DIGITAL FACTOR, REGENERATOR, LIGHTS AM. (ESSENCE OF MIND solo-project), NEIKKA RPM, FIRST AID 4 SOULS, DIFFUZION, AVARICE IN AUDIO, ELEKTROKLÄNGE, CIRCUMPOLAR and COSMIC ARMCHAIR.

THE CURE was, is, and will continue to be a major influence and reference, conscious or not, for many underground artists and music lovers. We hope that together with us you will rediscover THE CURE in a way you didn’t expect, cruising through their vast catalogue in different soundscapes but always remaining faithful to the band’s darker sound.

808 Dot Pop – MW720

808 Dot Pop - MW720

Today those who thought that 808 DOT POP was just a flash in the pan will have to reconsider!

METROLAND’s Passenger S his first solo album, “The Colour Temperature” (and its companion remix album, “The Cubic Temperature”), set ground for more appetizing electronics served the Belgian way. Passenger S oiled his machines to bestow new airwave shows full of vintage electro music. The definitive sequencing, intertwined with a fine veneer of analogue melodies, remains a delicacy to admirers of the Düsseldorfer sound.

808 DOT POP presents three new enjoyable pop radio shows, broadcasted on three different radio bands. The listeners can tune in to two shows on both the “AM 1350” and “FM 88.2” frequency (available on compact disc digital carriers) and a third show on the “MW 720” frequency (available as a download). The two CD albums are not only complementary conceptual releases but are also produced and mixed like a broadcasting where all songs float into each others to guarantee the ultimate radiophonic experience…

The idea for a pop radio show initially started when Passenger S asked (and also received) permission from OMD’s Andy McCluskey in person to cover their track ‘Radio Waves’. However, since the original was so darn good, the decision was soon taken to drop the cover idea. Still the interest to take a deeper dive into the matter of radio waves remained. A further push by Gary Hunter (KRAFTMAN), who pleasantly co-wrote on several songs, did finally lead to the birth of a new concept around the 1920’s crystal radio and the inventions of Guglielmo Marconi, who paved way for many things in our modern era.

Titles like ‘Radio Waves’, ‘Syntonic Telegraphy’, ‘Marconi’, with the refined vocal of none other than top notch female singer Lis van den Akker, or ‘Morse Code’ are a direct ode to Marconi, whereas ‘Galena’, ‘Cat’s Whiskers’, ‘The Detector’ and of course ‘Crystal Radio’ have their roots in the specific type of radio that reigned the roaring 20’s, proved a blessing during WWII and up to this day is still existing amongst radio amateurs. Not only Marconi gets a place of honour in these 808 DOT POP broadcastings, but also “Heinrich Hertz” and the Belgian radio voice of “Jan Moedwil” have their spotlight in this new conceptual piece of art.

These presented pop radio shows are again packed with detailed aesthetics, meticulously put together, not a detail left unseen or unheard that will shackle many to these pop radio shows.

Tune in now to enjoy two fabulous trips down on memory lane, one being the art of crystal radio and the second one being music delivered in top notch vintage style.

808 Dot Pop – AM 685 EP

808 Dot Pop - AM 685 EP

After the much applauded solo album, “The Colour Temperature” (and its companion remix album, “The Cubic Temperature”), METROLAND’s Passenger S switched on the radio again to deliver two airwave shows full of vintage electronics, a next must-have on the electronic menu of any lovers of melodic synth lines, analogue drum machines and soothing sounds intertwined with Dusseldorf spices, but served here by a Belgian sequence cook.

“FM101.4” and “AM 685” both offer a first sonic insight to the two upcoming 808 DOT POP conceptual albums “FM 88.2 and “AM 1350” with the main song “Marconi” being a sweet pop melody in conjunction with the mesmerizing and enchanting vocals of none other than Lis van den Akker, with whom Passenger S already happily worked with on his “SunCatcher” release project.

The combination of a compelling voice and synthetic sounds results in an ear catching tune about the “master of waves”, Guglielmo Marconi, who paved way for an enormous amount of applications in the modern era.

808 DOT POP’s “Marconi” will be released in two different download sets, a 3-track EP entitled “FM 101.4”, holding the single version of ‘Marconi’ (aptly entitled ‘on the radio’) backed with the song ‘The Detector’, which also features the soothing voice of Lis Van Den Akker and a 4-track maxi EP entitled ‘AM 685’, holding two extended versions, a remix with a clear wink to Passenger S and his love for an 80s band and his favourite 12inch (one of their 1983 songs was the very start of the entire concept), and an exclusive 3rd song entitled ‘Voices’, all referencing to the album’s concept.
