Mondträume, the synth-pop project from Spain, are preparing their third full-length: the 24-track 2CD “Mind Games” is due on 26 June 2026 from Alfa Matrix. The record catches the band at a turning point, with a new voice up front and a sound that holds on to the 80s flavour fans know from earlier releases.
The physical 2CD can be pre-ordered on the Alfa Matrix store. A digital “Mind Games (Deluxe Edition)” on Bandcamp is also open for pre-order, and four of its tracks can be heard right away.
A record at a turning point
For founder Pikotto (José Ignacio Castaño Marquínez), “Mind Games” follows the exit of original vocalist Damasius Venys. The new frontman is Nicky Schulschenk of N-Frequency, and guest vocal spots go to Antilav, Color Theory, Neon Space Men and District 13. The set also holds a previously unreleased Mondträume remix made for Bruderschaft, and the music leans toward the dancefloor, with a run of club-ready tracks.
Three EPs paved the way
Three EPs came out ahead of the album. “The Unknown Path” (2022) set the new line-up in motion; in December 2023 “Heart Machine” brought Nicky in as the singer, and a year later “Poisoned Love” gave another early look at the album.
About Mondträume
Mondträume is a synth-pop project from Spain, started in 2010 by the producer Pikotto VondMond. At first he collaborated with a number of vocalists, and one of his songs, “Life Is Short”, was placed on the compilation “Extreme Sündenfall Vol. 10”. Damasius Venys became the regular singer in late 2011.
The project soon gravitated toward Alfa Matrix. 2013 brought “Life Is Short” as a release of its own, and the first album, “Empty”, followed on 26 April 2014. The EP “Free” appeared on 4 November 2016, and the second album, “Lovers, Sinners & Liars”, arrived on 28 June 2019, with “Still Beating” and the “Free” single leading the way.
The line-up changed in 2022, when Venys departed and Ivan Derbenev (Antilav, Himmash) and vocalist Madil Hardis arrived. Nicky Schulschenk of N-Frequency was the voice of the band by December 2023, making his debut on “Heart Machine”. “Mind Games” is the project’s third album. More news is in the Mondträume archive.
