Description
It begins like a game… but not one you can easily win! With “Mind Games”, MONDTRÄUME open the gates to a shimmering yet shadowy labyrinth – a maze of emotions, memories, and inner conflicts where every path leads deeper into the human psyche. Guided by pulsating synth lines, melancholic melodies, and irresistible future pop hooks, Spanish mastermind Pikotto (Jose Ignacio Castaño Marquinez) invites us to lose ourselves in a world where love, doubt, hope, and illusion constantly collide – somewhere between the emotional depth of DE/VISION, the sleek drive of COVENANT and the poignant catchiness of ELEGANT MACHINERY.
But this album is also the story of transformation.
After the departure of the band’s original singer, Pikotto stood at a crossroads. Instead of standing still, he chose to explore – collaborating with a wide range of artists and voices, experimenting with new emotional textures and perspectives. These creative detours now echo across the bonus disc, a parallel maze shaped as a “Pikotto featuring friends” journey through collaborations with DISTRICT 13, NEON SPACE MEN, COLOR THEORY, ANTILAV and more. Hidden within these winding paths lies even an exclusive and previously unreleased MONDTRÄUME remix created for the iconic charity project BRUDERSCHAFT (with HAUUJOBB on vocals).
Yet every labyrinth has its center.
When Pikotto met Nicky (N-FREQUENCY), everything aligned. What began as a collaboration quickly evolved into a true creative symbiosis. Nicky’s deeply expressive voice became the guiding thread through the maze, leading MONDTRÄUME into a bold new era. Together, they refine the band’s signature sound – blending nostalgic 80’s-inspired synth pop elegance reminiscent of PET SHOP BOYS and ELEGANT MACHINERY with the punch and energy of modern future pop and the melodic precision of APOPTYGMA BERZERK.
Across “Mind Games”, this renewed identity unfolds with striking clarity. From the addictive “Poisoned Love” to the driving “Heart Machine”, from the introspective “Pictures Of You” to the hopeful pulse of “Still Alive”, the album navigates themes of connection, loss, and rebirth. Recurring collaborations with Madil add an ethereal duality, reinforcing the album’s core tension between vulnerability and strength, illusion and truth.
Following the path traced by the previous EP’s “Heart Machine” and “Poisoned Love”, this full-length album feels like both an arrival and a new beginning.
Because “Mind Games” is more than an album – it is a journey through a labyrinth with no clear exit, where every turn challenges your perception… and where the only way forward is to keep moving.
Just play it again!
