Belgian electronic-pop project 808 Dot Pop has started a video campaign that sets tracks from an “-ism” series against well-known 20th-century buildings. Since 14 August 2026 four clips have been published, the latest being “Collectionism” (17 September 2026, on the project’s own website). They build toward two albums, “Minimalism” and “Maximalism,” scheduled for late November 2026 on Alfa Matrix.
One piece of music from the series is exclusive to a label compilation: the first video’s track appears on “Sounds From The Matrix 026,” available now on the Alfa Matrix store or on Bandcamp. Both albums are also out on CD through the Alfa Matrix store — Minimalism and Maximalism.
The albums behind the campaign
“Minimalism” comes in a white sleeve and “Maximalism” in a black one. The project revealed both on its site on 14 August 2026 and described them as very different records in terms of content. A lead single named “Minimalism” was planned for 26 September 2026.
The campaign includes two more things. “Foundationalism” is a six-track EP of exclusive versions that will be sold only through the fan shop, on a “phygital” card with NFC. Fans were also told on 11 September 2026 about “Essentialism,” a 72-page book covering the buildings used across the series, with more information still pending. Track lists and formats for the albums are in our report on the two albums.
Video by video
“Internationalism (Seagram)”
First up, around 28 August 2026, was the Seagram Building in New York, an International Style landmark. The music is exclusive to the various-artists release “Sounds From The Matrix 26” and is not slated to appear anywhere else.
“Brutalism (Habitat 67)”
The 6 September 2026 video centres on Moshe Safdie’s Habitat 67 in Montreal, shown as a digital reinterpretation drawn from NeoScape’s “The Hillside Project” rather than as footage of the building itself.
“Contextualism (Fallingwater)”
On 11 September 2026 the series moved on to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater. The take heard here is the one on the “Minimalism” album, whereas another version, associated with the AT&T Long Lines Building, is on the lead single.
“Collectionism”
Posted on 17 September 2026, this one differs from the other three by giving updates on several upcoming fan packages.
About 808 Dot Pop
Passenger S, the Belgian musician from Metroland, runs 808 Dot Pop as a solo electronic-pop project. The most recent release connected to it before the architecture series was the rework album “Back To 808” by Cubic (December 2025). The project’s own most recent records date from 2023, when three albums and two EPs came out together (“FM88.2”, “AM1350”, “MW720”, “FM101.4” and “AM685”), with a double EP, “FM96.9” and “AM1040”, following in June.
Going further back, there was a single in honour of Guglielmo Marconi (January 2023) with words by Gary Hunter of Kraftman and vocals by Lis Van Den Akker; the “SunCatcher” EP (March 2022); and the “Ultraviolet” singles (February 2021), which preceded the album “The Cubic Temperature”.
It all began in 2020 with the debut album “The Colour Temperature” (download and CD, 5 June 2020, Alfa Matrix). Singles such as “Incandescent” and “Kelvin (4200)” followed, the latter arriving with a triple 7-inch vinyl bundle, and a D.A.F. cover, “El Que,” appeared that October on the “Wir Sind DAF” compilation. More of the label’s output is on the Alfa Matrix Bandcamp.
