The second album from AYRIA, the Canadian project of Toronto’s Jennifer Parkin, “Flicker” (2005) followed her acclaimed debut “Debris” and pushed her sound into bolder, more diverse territory. Formed after Parkin left EBM act EPSILON MINUS, AYRIA fused sharp electro-pop hooks with a darker, dancefloor-driven edge that quickly won her a devoted international following.

Where “Debris” delivered club anthems like “Disease”, “Flicker” borrows freely from minimal techno and early EBM, balancing catchy synth-pop songcraft with grittier, more experimental electronics. It’s the sound of an artist stretching her range — melodic and confrontational in equal measure — and a key early chapter in one of futurepop’s most distinctive careers.
