Llumen announces ‘Winter Eden’ album on Alfa Matrix

Pieter Coussement’s Belgian project Llumen has fixed 30 October 2026 as the release date of “Winter Eden,” its fourth album, which Alfa Matrix will put out on CD and digitally. A digital single, “The Leftovers,” goes ahead of it on 4 September. Over twelve tracks the record draws on future pop, EBM, gothic electronica and techno, the ingredients Coussement has been blending since he launched the project in 2001.

The CD is open for pre-order in the Alfa Matrix store, also as part of a bundle with the Implant and C-Lekktor CDs, and you can preview the album on Bandcamp.

An album built on opposites

Coussement frames “Winter Eden” around contrast: winter and Eden are treated as opposite yet connected states, and the sequence travels from disorientation and detachment toward intimacy and reflection. In his own words, the album became “a witness to that journey.” The lead single, “The Leftovers,” is the third track.

Launch night with Implant

A first taste of the album already exists: “Between The Words” was part of “The Odin Files,” a darkwave compilation put out in July 2026 in support of Ukraine. Live, the album is presented at mOtown in Sint-Joost-ten-Node, Belgium, on 20 November 2026, where Llumen shares a double launch night with Implant, whose own “The Kinematics of Doubt” is unveiled at the same event. The pair already shared a launch night once before, in 2021.

About Llumen

Llumen is Pieter Coussement’s dark electronic project, based in Ghent and active since 2001. Its name nods to Front 242’s “U-Men,” which Coussement later covered for the 2016 tribute “Recovery >For You<”. Three albums come before “Winter Eden”: “The Memory Institute,” released by Alfa Matrix (with an expanded edition dated 13 January 2017), “Polygon Heart” and “The Breaking Waves,” a limited 2CD set from 2024. The nine-track EP “Die Stille Totgeschwiegen” appeared in between, in 2023.

Beyond its own records, Llumen has done official remixes for acts such as C-Lekktor, Implant and Noemi Aurora. It has also contributed to two Alfa Matrix tribute sets: a version of Depeche Mode’s “Halo” appears on “Alfa Matrix Re:covered Vol.3” (2019), and Front 242’s “Gripped By Fear” is covered on “Recovery 2 For You” (2026). Live, the project has played Castle Party among other events, most recently Infest in Manchester in August 2025. With “Winter Eden,” Coussement delivers the first full-length since its predecessor, twenty-five years into the project.
