Freakangel unveil ‘Control’ video ahead of Baltic tour

Freakangel – ‘Control’ video and Baltic tour poster (Alfa Matrix, 2026)

The clip for “Control” by Estonian industrial rock band Freakangel goes live on 4 September 2026 (11:00 CEST), after a teaser on 31 August. It rounds off the trilogy the group has put together with Alfa Matrix over three years, and its mood is slower and more reflective than the two singles that led up to it. Six days later the band opens a Baltic tour with Psycholies and Sugar Rody.

You can find the song on the digital Control EP and on the seven-track Control (Extended) EP, both available now on the Alfa Matrix store. Stream them on Bandcamp too: Control EP and Control (Extended) EP.

Shooting ‘Control’

D. Darling handled both production and direction, combining footage from two sessions. The band’s own scenes were recorded inside Tallinn’s Kultus Club, a kink venue open to members only, with Alex Troitsky as cinematographer, while the pole-dance part, featuring Daria Khudinskaia, was shot by Šilanda Sirakova at Hudi Dance Studio. The band says it chose atmosphere over a conventional storyline.

Lyrically, the song traces obsession and idealisation, and what happens once the illusion a narrator has constructed for himself falls apart. Writing credits go to D. Darling and Ocean Black, who also produced and recorded it together.

A trilogy in three steps

Ocean Black produced every chapter, from “Suicidal (Break The Cycle)” (2023) via “Death Bloom” (2024) to “Control.” On 10 April 2026 Alfa Matrix bundled them as the digital Control EP, and the extended edition followed on 26 June with reworks by Psycholies, PashaRav, Spankthenun and Implant.

Tour dates

Psycholies, a goth-industrial band from Bari, is among those who remixed “Control,” while Tallinn’s Sugar Rody works as a producer and DJ. The Baltic run:

  • Klubas Lemmy, Kaunas (Lithuania) – 10 September 2026
  • Klubs Depo, Riga (Latvia) – 11 September 2026
  • The Krypt, Tallinn (Estonia) – 12 September 2026

The Baltic dates are the band’s first concerts since Hard Rock Laager in July. London gets a fourth September show on the 27th, at the Renaissance Alternative Music Festival (Venue 229).

About Freakangel

Dmitry Ivanov, who performs as D. Darling, founded Freakangel in Tallinn in late 2009 as a spin-off of his group Suicidal Romance. Its roots lie in EBM and industrial music, and the sound turned toward industrial rock over the first ten years. The first album, “The Faults Of Humanity”, and the release “Digital Deviations” came out on Alfa Matrix in 2010. Later records include “Death Walks With Us” (2018), while “How The Ghost Became” and “In The Witch House” were released on DWA.

Alfa Matrix came back to the band with an anniversary edition of the debut in 2021 and the EP “The Last White Dance” in 2022. In 2024 the focus turned to free releases, among them the single “Death Bloom” in April and the sixteen-track compilation “Serenity To The Stars, Beauty To The Broken” in September, before touring the USA and Mexico in October.
