Cubic releases ‘Elements’ EP on Alfa Matrix

Cubic – Elements EP cover art (Alfa Matrix, 2026)

Belgian producer Franky Deblomme has a new EP out under his Cubic alias. Titled “Elements,” the five-track digital release landed on 2 October 2026 through Alfa Matrix, and it steers the project’s stripped-back electro sound toward livelier, more club-ready techno.

“Elements” is available now on the Alfa Matrix store, and you can stream the full EP on Bandcamp.

The roots behind ‘Elements’

The record leans on the influences that have defined Cubic from the start — early-80s electro, the R&S Records school of 90s techno, plus strands of acid and dub. The label itself flags a kinship with modern acts like Bicep and Modeselektor. Opener “Future Past” and the twin readings of “BangBang” (one edited for Detroit, one for Chicago) push hardest toward the floor, while “A Fish” and “Chord Memory” keep the lean sequences, analogue hardware and hypnotic loops that have always run through the project.

‘Elements’ tracklist

  1. “Future Past” (4:31)
  2. “BangBang” (Detroit edit) (4:26)
  3. “A Fish” (4:35)
  4. “Chord Memory” (4:55)
  5. “BangBang” (Chicago edit) (4:10)

About Cubic

Cubic is Franky Deblomme’s electronic project, a sibling to his long-running 808 Dot Pop. His first move after joining Alfa Matrix was the EP “Alphabet Hymn” on 9 March 2021 — five tracks cut entirely on hardware at his Bong 13 studio, mixing Düsseldorf synth-pop, Berlin techno, early-90s Manchester rave and EBM, with a closing remix by labelmates 808 Dot Pop. A fortnight later he recast an older 808 Dot Pop album as “The Cubic Temperature” (26 March 2021), bundled with a Bandcamp-only megamix.

His first album, “The Cubic Alphabet,” arrived on 18 June 2021, trailed that December by the EP “Phonic Lessons Part 3.” City-themed singles followed: “Exit – Frankfurt” in spring 2022 and the four-song “Exit – Ghent” that summer. Two Commodore-nodding EPs, “c64” and “c128” (2023), led into “Back To Basic” on 4 June 2024 — a Kraftwerk-tinged set built on the Modor DR2 and NF1, the first drum machine and synth made in Belgium.

A limited black-vinyl EP, “EFM01”, surfaced in June 2025, trailed by the digital “EFM02” in the autumn and the reworking “Back To 808” before year’s end. Early 2026 brought the paired EPs “CB-708” and “CB-128”, both circling back to that album. “Elements” is the newest step on Alfa Matrix — dig into the rest of the label’s roster over on the Alfa Matrix Bandcamp.
