Description
The label debut of Seattle futurepop act GLIS, masterminded by Shaun Frandsen, “Balance” (2003) was among the very first releases on the then-young Alfa Matrix — one of the ten bands that helped launch the label. It arrived just as futurepop was conquering clubs worldwide, and immediately marked GLIS as a name to watch on the international scene.
Its opening anthem “Sunrise” became an instant club favourite and resurfaced in numerous versions over the years, pushing GLIS onto dancefloors alongside genre leaders like COVENANT, ICON OF COIL, VNV NATION and APOPTYGMA BERZERK. Melodic, driving and polished, “Balance” pairs soaring synth leads with punchy electronic rhythms — a confident debut that captured futurepop at its early-2000s peak.
