The True Union, an American act that blends industrial metal with dark electro, has released its album “Sleepwalk” on Alfa Matrix. The digital release dates from 24 April 2026 and runs to eleven tracks, making it the project’s first full-length for the label. It comes after the EP “Love Me Now (Not)” of December 2022, and Sebastian Komor produced the new record.
“Sleepwalk” is available now on the Alfa Matrix store, and it can be streamed on Bandcamp. It is also carried by Spotify, Audiomack, Juno Download and other download and streaming services.
Guests on the record
Guests turn up on four of the eleven tracks. “Internal War” features Hellhammer of Mayhem together with the late Tony “IT” Särkkä, “One By One” has Komor Kommando as a guest, and Jamie Cronander appears on “Karma” and “Trvst”. Cronander, an American guitarist, is a live musician with Combichrist and also plays in Striplicker.
Särkkä, a Swedish multi-instrumentalist known from Abruptum, Ophthalamia and Vondur, died in 2017. The True Union marked his part in “Internal War” with an in memoriam video, which presents the raw vocal takes he recorded for the song.
Familiar songs and new material
Not everything here is new to listeners. “Blinded”, “Burn In Hell”, “Karma”, “Love Me Now” and “One By One” are among the tracks that were already known, and they sit next to songs that debut on the album. The video for “Love Me Now” is embedded below.
About The True Union
Azul Far started the project in 2009 as a one-woman industrial act from the United States. From 2009 to 2015 she self-released material as The Union, which added up to several singles, an album and an EP. By 2017 she had brought other musicians on board and was playing live dates in her region.
Producer and musician Travis Bacon entered the picture on a recommendation from Attila of Mayhem, and the tracks he worked on eventually found their way to record labels. The project then landed a slot on the label compilation Sounds From The Matrix 023, contributing the song “Purousthai”, and its Alfa Matrix debut came in December 2022 with the EP “Love Me Now (Not)”.
That EP shipped alongside a “Love Me Now” video and involved Travis Bacon, Siggi Bemm, Sebastian Komor and guitarist Jamie Cronander. Alien Vampires, Aesthetische and Acylum each contributed a remix, and the track list also had “One By One” with Komor Kommando.
“One By One” started life as a track for a Komor Kommando EP. Far sang guest vocals on it after Komor, who was producing and mixing her new music, heard her voice and asked her to join one of his songs.
Siggi Bemm handled the live drum production and recording for “Blinded”. Cronander tracked his guitar parts after meeting Far on tour, a regional run with Psyclon Nine that Striplicker was also part of.
With “Sleepwalk”, Far moves from EP to album format on Alfa Matrix. More about the project is collected in the archive for The True Union.
