The Alfa Matrix debut of American act INURE, “Subversive” (2006) is a dark, malevolent slab of electro-industrial steeped in the DNA of SKINNY PUPPY. Produced by Ted Phelps of IMPERATIVE REACTION, the trio’s second album layers heavy beats, driving basslines and thick, ominous atmospheres into something both punishing and meticulously crafted.

Imaginative synthwork and forward-thinking sound design give “Subversive” real depth, while a brooding cover of Alice In Chains’ “Would?” shows the band’s willingness to colour outside the lines. Rounded out with remixes from the likes of IMPERATIVE REACTION and Alter Der Ruine, it captures the feel of classic industrial with a thoroughly modern edge.
