On their 7th album, long-time Australian friends Gerry and Lawrie (STUDUI-X) take a violent detour into the darkest corners of 90s industrial rock, elektro-metal and noisy guitar-driven madness, dragging their familiar electronic DNA through a particularly filthy reality. The result is their most extreme, abrasive and deliberately uncomfortable album to date.
“Welcome Home”. “Let Them Eat Violence”. “Bareback In Babylon”. “Our Trade Is War”. “The Devil Gets His Due”. The titles alone should probably be enough of a warning. This is AVARICE IN AUDIO watching a world that has stopped turning right and deciding that the appropriate response is to turn the volume up. Part dystopian videogame, part political nightmare, part industrial-rock fever dream, the album blurs satire and reality until you can no longer tell which one is more fucked up.
There are hooks. There is power. There is even fun to be had. But don’t expect an easy ride. “Welcome To Weimar America” is intentionally difficult to digest, occasionally revolting and gloriously excessive. Fans of the band’s darker synth-pop, harsh elektro and EBM-driven past may need to leave their comfort zone at the door.
Featuring longtime friend STATIC LOGIC on a 2026 reworking of “Let The Boreal Burn”, and artwork by Kallisti Design, this is AVARICE IN AUDIO throwing musical restraint out of the window and setting fire to whatever remains.
