Description

LP black vinyl 180gr

Lessines, Belgium, mid-1980s. The city that saw the birth of surrealist artists René Magritte and Louis Scutenaire, but looked like a musical desert. Three friends decided to create a band: voice, bass guitar and synthesizers, to be joined later by two more.

THE ULTIMATE DREAMERS were influenced by Belgian cold wave and British post-punk but the teenagers set upon their own path. Frigid, organic tones with tainted with melancholy melodies, sometimes catchy, sometimes verging on the dissonant, serve as a backdrop for themes dominated by raw dreams, distressed love and social criticism. Between 1986 and 1990, they wrote and self-recorded numerous tracks at home before their final resting.

Thirty years on, COVID oblige, the recordings resurfaced and were brought to the ear of the record label magnate behind Wool-E Discs who immediately suggested an album deal. Eleven tracks were resurrected under the banner of Live Happily While Waiting For Death, released on September 26, 2021.

“I Love You?!” preceded the album release as a digital single. The video for this synthwave/EBM danceable track is illustrated by images from the cult sexploitation film “Olga’s House of Shame”.

THE ULTIMATE DREAMERS are reverie no more, they are back in a new configuration including three original members and a new one. The repertoire is exhumed, resuscitated and enriched with new creations…

These good old recordings are available in limited quantities on Vinyl format (black 180gr), on CD and on all digital platforms with bonus tracks (21 in total!) through the band’s new label Spleen+ (cold wave/post punk division of the Alfa Matrix Label Group).
