To celebrate their 30th anniversary, DIGITAL FACTOR announced that they will release the charity album “G.B.A.” in October 2023. All proceeds from the album will be donated to the Kinderstiftung Altenburg, a foundation for disadvantaged children. (Link: https://www.kinderstiftung-altenburg.de/)

“Ouvre” is the second single taken from this forthcoming conceptual album based on eclectic collaborations with local German artists from Mike Langer’s hometown. This time, the song features actor Manuel Kressin contributing French spoken vocals to this upbeat and addictive technoish track. His vocals reinforce the elevating groove of the track until it reaches its peak. In addition to the 3 different versions of the title-song (with the “Berlin” and “Van Wijk” remixes), DIGITAL FACTOR also revealed a 3rd album song with the synth pop cut “Your Echo” in its exclusive “JFlash” mix version by Andy Drabek who became acquainted with Depeche Mode remixes, for which he used only the band’s original sounds that were filtered and rearranged. And that’s exactly what he did here again…

This new single simply confirms that “G.B.A.” will be a very exciting electronic music album rich of its sonic and collaborative diversity where multiple artists join hands for a noble charity cause.

2023 marks the 30th anniversary of DIGITAL FACTOR’s eventful history. For the occasion, Mike Langer decided to make his new studio album “G.B.A.-General Behavior Abrogate” a very special release in many ways.

First of all, DIGITAL FACTOR decided to make this album a charity project where all proceeds will be donated to a foundation for disadvantaged children (https://www.kinderstiftung-altenburg.de/), bringing back some humanity to our crazy world and reminding all of us that music is a perfect media to set up connection and bring us all together. We count on everyone for supporting us in this charity adventure!

Mike Langer also took the challenge to collaborate on each new song with a different local artist from his hometown of Altenburg (Germany) giving to this new album a very eclectic and collaborative dimension. “As a musician, you always tend to say that the current album is THE special album. (laugh) But the current work with numerous musicians from my hometown, all embracing my musical style, is truly something special”, explains German artist Mike Langer.

This approach also marks a break from the usual quite dystopian lyrics DIGITAL FACTOR served us so far. “G.B.A.” carries hope and gives the positive message that “Even in difficult times there are situations and people who are the light at the end of the tunnel”. The song “But Not Today” probably best symbolizes the whole project thanks to the collaboration with the samba/drummer group COMO VENTO who actually started themselves their musical adventure as a socio-cultural project and has since attracted attention
nationwide.

DIGITAL FACTOR continues writing complex electronic music with an edge lead by melodic synth pop lines and catchy vocals, the whole this time fully reinforced by the diversity of the featured guests. The previous successful single “I Am What I Am” was written this way with the punk singer Gwendolyn Gaffa from the band MORAFFA. Another highlight should also be the song “Hold The Hope” with singer Manuel Schmid from STERN MEISSEN. Other attention grabbers will surely be songs like “Don’t Speak For Me” with soul singer Rebecca Klukas or yet “Who Is The Architect” with singer-songwriter Franziska Haucke.
Another collaboration that should also be of particular interest to the hardcore fans of DIGITAL FACTOR, as the album opens with “Take Me To The Limit” which features none other than DIGITAL FACTOR’s founding member Torsten Heise!
Mike Langer who works in both music and film for theater productions, even recorded two songs together with two fellow actors: Manuel Kressin (for the club hit “Ouvre”) and Manuel Struffolino (“Change It”). Mike Langer’s daughter Josephine can also be heard on one of the songs, as well as guitarist and bassist Georg Kostron, who once again contributed to the album…

“For the album I did a massive remodeling of my studio. The aim was to dive into the production technologies of the 80s and to transform them into today’s, sometimes quite harsh, sound of DIGITAL FACTOR” says Langer, describing the production. “That’s why 80% of the tracks on “GBA” are analog synthesizers. Hardly a song illustrates this better than “The World Is Analog”. The goal with this song was to work exclusively with analog synths. Before and during the production I read a lot about the production of electronic music in the 80s, with all the innovations, but also limitations. I wanted to implement this consistently in the song. Even the bass drum doesn’t come from a drum machine, but from an Arp Odyssey” explains the musician.

“G.B.A.” is that kind of album where each song, and talented guest vocalist, offers its very own sonic journey but where the top notch meticulous production work of Mike Langer and the intricate catchy electronic compositions evoking the industrial/EBM roots of DIGITAL FACTOR bring a certain consistent red line to the album as a whole, what give to this collaborative charity project its very own colorful identity.

Happy Birthday DIGITAL FACTOR!

DIGITAL FACTOR also decided to give a charity dimension to this collaborative album by giving all proceeds from this release to a foundation for disadvantaged children. This first single is therefore released as a FREE (pay as you wish) song. We count on you for your precious support.

What the listener can expect on the album can be inferred from the pre-release single “I Am What I Am”. For each song, DIGITAL FACTOR collaborated with a different guest artist. On the first single release, Mike Langer is joined by Gwendolyn Gaffa from the punk band MOROFFA. Here, intricate and powerful electronic music meets powerful vocals and an exceptional voice…

Enjoy without moderation until the next surprise pops up!

With his comeback album release “A Chemical Process”, Mike Langer made 2 strong statements: firstly, DIGITAL FACTOR is above all an audio-visual project; and secondly, the German artist stands for an ear-challenging eclectic sound approach that merges intricate modern electro techno elements with addictive synth pop song arrangements and powerful Industrial / Electronic Body Music root foundations.

Today DIGITAL FACTOR hits the nail on the head once again and confirms his position with this new 6-track EP release featuring 3 exclusive brand new songs, each accompanied by a remix version from Alfa Matrix label mates and a stunning video clip per song…

Still catchy and melodic, “What?” reveals a more upfront dancefloor approach with straight in your face beats and ferocious synth sequences. Although DIGITAL FACTOR continues fusing quite contrasting elements for the ultimate pleasure of your ears!

If PSY’AVIAH underlined the catchy breakbeat pop feel of the delicious title track “What?”, Belgian analogue synth guru CUBIC enjoyed emphasizing the hypnotizing club feel of “Sometimes We Are A Little Bit Closer”, while sexy New-York diva NEIKKA RPM gave a lush and dirty hammering touch to the explicit “I Wanna Taste” with her own additional characteristic vocal whispers…

A mind-boggling sonic experience.

After the ‘Falling Down’ EP and “Relationchips” album re-releases, here comes the next chapter in DIGITAL FACTOR’s repertoire: “On Demand” in fully digitally revised remastered version.

Originally released in 1996 by Hyperium/Hypnobeat, the band’s second album is also the band’s first conceptual album focusing on the digital age with all its advantages and disadvantages. It’s with “On Demand” that DIGITAL FACTOR will make their breakthrough on the German dark EBM scene thanks to timeless hit songs (still played live nowadays) like “Go Ahead” and “X-Rayzor” for which a video clip was also shot during the European tour for “On Demand” (the Future Sound Of Electro Tour”) that DIGITAL FACTOR made together with EVILS TOY.

Watch out for the other forthcoming remastered releases from the DIGITAL FACTOR industry while new material also keeps being recorded and released!

With the resonant feedback received from the fans for the release of DIGITAL FACTOR’s comeback album “A Chemical Process”, Mike Langer decided to revisit the band’s impressive repertoire and rerelease with Alfa Matrix fully remastered versions of his back-catalogue thanks to the latest studio tools and technologies.

We therefore start from the beginning with DIGITAL FACTOR’s official debut release: the ‘Falling Down’ EP that came out in 1994. This remastered 2021 version also features a brand new 2021 remix of the title song “Falling Down” made by Mike Langer himself…

Back in 1993, the German band had sold out their first “Suiciety” tape release and were working on the next one, when they got the chance to be tipped by Claus Larsen (LEAETHER STRIP) to the Danish label Hard Records who instantly signed them. At the same time, the band also took part in a competition run by the cult German label Hyperium/Hypnobeat and reached the second position that brought them to join that label later on. In April 1994, the “Falling Down” EP was an immediate chart success and placed DIGITAL FACTOR into dark elektro/hard EBM orbit.

Watch out for the other forthcoming remastered releases from the DIGITAL FACTOR industry!

After the ‘Falling Down’ EP re-release, now comes the 1995 cult first full length album of DIGITAL FACTOR: “Relationchips”.

Back then, the DIGITAL FACTOR gang returned to the cult Elsterparkstudio in Leipzig (Germany), one of the hubs of the dark electro music scene in central Germany to record this album. Most demos of the album had already been written before and two songs (“Years Ago” and “Work”) were also already known from the first tape release “Suiciety”. With a song like “Mindbooster”, DIGITAL FACTOR also revealed their very first punkish sound attitude, injecting guitars into their electronic sound style; while tracks like the catchy vocoder tune “T.R.O.N.I.C.” or yet “Hope!” also showed the band’s more experimental and eclectic side. But from “Relationchips”, we all of course remember one of DIGITAL FACTOR’s bigger club hits with the merciless and hammering “Electro Shock” that is still today part of the band’s live playlist!

“Relationchips” was released in 1995 as a collaboration release between Hard Records and Hyperium/Hypnobeat. It is now made available for the very first time on all digital platforms and in a fully digitally revised remastered version.

Watch out for the other forthcoming remastered releases from the DIGITAL FACTOR industry!

In October 2020, one of the most missed cult electro-EBM bands from the early nineties took everyone by surprise with the release of DIGITAL FACTOR’s “Come With Me” come-back EP and 2 associated stunning video clips.

Today, Alfa Matrix proudly announce the release of “A Chemical Process”, the German band’s 9th studio album! The first CD, produced in Mike Langer’s upgraded studio, reveals an all-new musical-visual concept by DIGITAL FACTOR and an ear-challenging eclectic sound approach that merges intricate modern electro techno elements with addictive synth pop song arrangements and powerful Industrial / Electronic Body Music root foundations. It is also the first time that Mike Langer decided to create his new songs first on a guitar next to synthesizers, with the precious support of Austrian bassist and guitarist Georg Kostron, to give them a stronger live sound dynamic and overall arrangement.

With the questioning of the impact of biochemical processes on our existence as guiding conceptual red line, DIGITAL FACTOR carry us through the dark sides of depression, isolation, addiction, seduction, or yet manipulation. But with songs like “The Fear Is In Your Head” or yet “Reason To Live” the band eventually pushes us to grab our lives in both hands and to decide what place we give to these fears, temptations and other manipulators, and whether we decide to follow the light or let darkness swallow us bit by bit…

And that’s precisely that constant fusion of contrasting elements that forges the musical body of this new addictive album: grinding electric sounds get balanced with catchy melodic synth lines, kicking EBM beats clash onto fat groovy basslines, distorted noises and sampled dynamic guitars get turned into dark melodic arrangements while clear catchy choruses get intermingled with harder angry vocals.

DIGITAL FACTOR strike back with a top notch production approach and seducing electronic music style that wets our appetite for more! Fans of progressive and eclectic synth music with an edge will welcome this new DIGITAL FACTOR album with open arms, especially if they favor the good old godfathers of the genre like CABARET VOLTAIRE, FRONT 242 or DEPECHE MODE.

Music collectors will note that the limited CD digipak edition of this album holds 2 exclusive bonus tracks: the hypnotic dancefloor killer “Into My Eyes” and the club remix of “Come With Me” by The Saint Paul.

Through their prolific career DIGITAL FACTOR did multiple European tours and shared the stage with acts in the likes of FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY, X MARKS THE PEDWALK, PLACEBO EFFECT, CAT RAPES DOG, EVIL’S TOY, etc. Mike Langer is also known for writing music for movies, theatre, adverts, radio plays and producing other artists.

One of the most missed cult electro-EBM bands from the early nineties is back! It’s official: German DIGITAL FACTOR have announced their forthcoming 8th studio album on their new label Alfa Matrix.

While spending the last years writing music for movies, theatre, adverts, radio plays and producing other artists, original founding member Mike Langer has upgraded his home studio and reactivated the DIGITAL FACTOR machines!

In addition to the more than promising “Chemical Process” album, this “Come With Me” 10-track EP serves as perfect appetizer for all fans of synth pop and Electronic Body Music. DIGITAL FACTOR merge their hard EBM industrial roots with their unique talent to write catchy melodic electronic songs and offer to us this beautiful future pop anthem “Come With Me”. A song that gets presented in various versions showing the band’s many influences, going from an eighties synth pop mix to Heise’s house/dance version through an intricate 90’s mix, an old school EBM version by DAMASCUS KNIVES, an acoustic piano version, a trancey remake by MARGARET STREET or yet mind-blowing remixes by ARMAGEDDON DILDOS and AH CAMA SOTZ.

“Come With Me” is actually the first chapter of an overall musical-visual concept by DIGITAL FACTOR who also simultaneously issued the official video clip for this song, depicting how seductive products, ideas or chemicals can sometimes be by promising us that ultimate trip that we can’t resist…

Last but not least, with the second new song “I Am Dangerous”, DIGITAL FACTOR reveal their sonic diversity and plunge us in a more modern and eclectic electro universe intelligently merging FRONT 242-esque basslines, addictive female vocals, tortured powerful male vox, sampled dynamic guitars and dark synth sequences.

DIGITAL FACTOR strike back with a top notch production approach and seducing electronic music style that wets our appetite for more!
