The song « A Heart Cries » oscillates between industrial uptempo in the chorus and melodic midtempo in the verses, and has hints of Theater of Tragedy in the very gothic and martial sound.

A heart cries but whose heart? This song is dedicated to the hearts of people who sometimes feel so bad that they want to end it. We have all experienced a moment in life when we no longer find meaning, where we wonder what it is for, what we are for and why we are here. And we are in so much pain. Our hearts cry, we don’t know whether to survive or die. You have to hang on because life is full of ups and downs.

Belgium’s very own female-fronted goth metal pop act LOVELORN DOLLS took a 5-year break, during which Kristell transformed into the photographer/visual artist Kristell In Wonderland, exhibiting across Europe. An experience that inspired the explosive comeback of LOVELORN DOLLS.

Back with their 4th album, “Deadtime Stories”, LOVELORN DOLLS embrace a stronger identity – creepy cute ambiance, eerie Tim Burton-esque scenes, guitar-driven sounds, catchy dark melodies, childlike synths, industrial tones, and Kristell’s distinctive voice, all boldly and fully embraced.

The title “Deadtime Stories” is a cynical play on words, referencing children’s rhymes with a dark twist. Each song delves into themes of death, endings, suicide, broken dreams, loss, and the perilous allure of fame. The artwork cover perfectly encapsulates this, depicting a lonely girl reading in a cemetery fog.

Produced by Maxx Maryan (HELALYN FLOWERS, IMJUDAS), the band also surprises with guest appearances, including DERO GOI, ex-singer of OOMPH!, in the duet “Dancing at Your Funeral,” co-produced and co-written by Goi. The other guest is VVITCHBOY, an American Gothic rapper, featured on the energetic and enchanting track “Death & Glory”.

With “Beautiful Chaos”, the Belgian band thrusts their tiny girl protagonist into a descent towards a darker world, trapping her in an asylum padded room haunted by beautifully chaotic characters. This single is the second tale unleashed from LOVELORN DOLLS’ upcoming 4th album, “Deadtime Stories”, currently in the works with Italian producer Maxx Maryan from HELALYN FLOWERS/IMJUDAS.

“Beautiful Chaos” reveals a grittier and darker side of the band, featuring intense guitar riffs, twisted synth melodies, and haunting female vocals – a sonic journey influenced by bands like THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE, JACK OFF JILL, or THEATRE OF TRAGEDY.

Brussels based duo LOVELORN DOLLS took everyone by surprise with the release of their mini-manga video clip for their delicious cover version of THE CURE’s classic song “Lullaby”.

Kristell and Bernard confirm now that the LOVELORN DOLLS are definitely back in town and reveal a brand new song where their favourite tiny girl protagonist lets us discover her “Dreamworld”, such a strangely attractive world or should we best say attractively strange world!?

Dealing with the solitude scourge in our hyperconnected society, this bittersweet goth pop song is lead by catchy joyful melodies wrapped in a constrasting veil of melancholic cold wave. Kristell’s vocals are both provocative and addictive while the guitars add that uplifting lingering touch to this beautiful tune.

“Darker Ages”, LOVELORN DOLLS’ 3rd album is above all a true catharsis for the band members. A purgation of the darkest emotions and tormented moments they went through the last months, daring expressing them through the sombre events of our everyday life (the rise of religious extremism, terror attacks, the ageing society, wars, betrayals, etc.) in a courageous struggle and continuous quest for a spiritual renewal… And it’s not every band who goes this far to even thank their antidepressants in the album credits!

Noir and poignant at first encounter, this new album is indeed haunted by malevolent ghosts and is by far the darkest work of the band ever, sounding a bit like a revolted THE GATHERING having a jamming session with THE CURE in their most depressive “Pornography” period… The tone is sombre, the guitar strings are sinister, the synths are lamenting and the beats are slow and heavy. And although we immediately recognize their typical “LOVELORN” type of sound made of heavy guitar riffs, loud catchy melodies, up-paced synth sequences and Ladyhell’s characteristic chameleon female vocals, the overall atmosphere is dense almost claustrophobic with the highly expressive female voice adding a dramatic touch to it by mixing depressive screams, spoken words and catchy but also oppressive choruses.

Fans of classic gothic rock will undoubtedly adore this album which is definitely revisiting the band’s deepest artistic melancholic wave rock roots, while industrial metal lovers will also find their way through the harder and more upbeat songs like the previous single “Lament”, the engaged “Psalms” or yet the dark pearl “Love Missile”.

Engineered once again by Maxx of HELALYN FLOWERS fame, “Darker Ages” is maybe not LOVELORN DOLLS’ most accessible release to date, but it’s by far the most mature and introspective creative effort to date from this Belgian duo. And the last 2 songs of the album intelligently bring us on more positive vibes full of hopes and strength through a radical come-back to nature, opening us the doors to a new world full of innocence and purity nicely characterized by the beautiful contribution of a multi-cultural children choir offering the perfect ending to this chef d’oeuvre.

After catching our interest and wetting our appetite for more with her two previous fascinating and almost stylistically opposite EP’s (“Fairytronics” and “Black List”), we were all wondering what sound direction SIN.SIN would take on her full length album… Well, here it comes! “Nobody’s Heroine” is there and Kristell L. invites us to discover her very intimate and almost introspective world made of rainbows and bright nights, but also sometimes haunted by darker shadows and supernatural atmospheres. SIN.SIN knows no limits and she simply brings us where her boiling imagination leads her, boosted by the magical power of her emotional and SIN.ful spiritual fantasy.

Known for her work as the lead singer of the goth rock / industrial metal band LOVELORN DOLLS, and although she has already collaborated as guest singer with some electronic musicians in the past (PSY’AVIAH, AIBOFORCEN, JUNKSISTA…), Kristell L., literally opens herself up on this new SIN.SIN project through which she spreads her butterfly wings and reveals a more colorful side of her personality. And her winning teamwork on SIN.SIN with the Italian genius producer Maxx of HELALYN FLOWERS for both mixing and production gives an absolute twist and spiritual dimension to the project.

This multi-talented Belgian female artist leaves her melancholic soul guide her when writing these romantic and carrying pop-wave songs whose atmospheres lead us to states of pure meditation and naïve joy through their minimal catchy melodies and highly emotional female vocals. SIN.SIN stands for ethereal synth-pop and upbeat coldwave music revealing an artist who knows the virtues of moving words, melodic electronics and dreamy atmospheres with a touch of SIN.ful darkness. And the eclectic diversity of her influences brilliantly shines through her minimal electronic compositions evoking artists like GEIKE, HOOVERPHONIC, LYKKE LI, GARBAGE, BJORK, BAT FOR LASHES, MARSHEAUX, etc.

We will also notice her collaboration with another Belgian cult act THE BREATH OF LIFE who made such a surprising folk remake of “Moving Sands” as well as the impressive duet and perfect vocal match with HELALYN FLOWERS’ bewitching vocalist n0emi Aurora on the emotional siren noir song “Blacklist”.

SIN.SIN reveals here a new hidden facet and confronts you with a darker side of her magick world!

Forming an impressive duet and perfect vocal match with HELALYN FLOWERS’ bewitching famous vocalist n0emi Aurora, Kristell L. launches a relentless hunt after all bad and cruel characters in SIN.SIN’s fairytale: the “Blacklist” is long and you might be on it without knowing it until the girls hit you right in the heart with this carrying and emotional siren noir song! As if in a game of some sort, this excellent song also gets reinterpreted on this 5-track EP in 4 additional “levels” – each giving a specific touch and atmosphere / world to it all, with a loud and guitar metal rock retake by LOVELORN DOLLS (Kristell’s other famous band project), an extreme hellish industrial metal rollerblade rework by Norway’s HELL:SECTOR (with additional devilish male vocals), a unique and noticeable floating modern electro remix by AIBOFORCEN as well as a cinematic synth melodic version by Kai Otte (MARI CHROME).

With this second EP we now really wonder what direction SIN.SIN will take on her full length album, but we now learnt that there are also dark clouds in heaven as well as bright stars in hell! Lovelorn Dolls – An Intense Feeling Of Affection EP

Five years ago, Brussels-based band LOVELORN DOLLS self-released their very first demo “An Intense Feeling Of Affection” under the name “Lovelorn”. This February 2016, we celebrate the 5th anniversary of that very rare and now completely sold-out collector’s item. On the pressing demand of the band’s ever-growing fanbase, we decided together with the band to make this precious sonic treasure available on digital platforms. Re-releasing it, while carefully keeping the authentic and original spirit of these recordings intact! A demo which testifies the metal roots of LOVELORN DOLLS and reminds us of how the band’s sound has evolved and matured between their early recordings and their 2015’s successful second album “Japanese Robot Invasion”.

It’s a quite unique experience that LOVELORN DOLLS offer us here to rediscover these songs in their very original version, songs that we recognize from the band’s debut album “The House Of Wonders”, but that are also so different in many aspects at the same time. They breathe the roughness, depth and innocence of Kristell and Bernard’s first self-made recordings together before their first producer Victor Love of DOPE STARS INC. gave them that more darkish electronic pop rock touch. You will notice for example that the drum parts are here programmed and not the real drum arrangements we can find on their official debut album. It’s also interesting hearing “Mother Of The Universe” entirely sung by Kristell (without the guest vocals of Helen Vogt of FLOWING TEARS) or yet “Frozen Inside” played one tone higher with some different guitar melodies. But we prefer letting you play the game on your own and discover all other differences…

Last but not least, LOVELORN DOLLS added a 6th bonus song “Rates Of Loneliness” which got renamed “Rats Are Out” on their first album, and the fact that it has totally different vocal parts attests that they can write two completely different songs using the very same chords…
