“Destruction” nicely represents the album’s dichotomic sound hanging between hard and aggressive elektro industrial and more melodic danceable 80’s influences synth music. Uwe Kanka also totally reinvented this title song through his own “darkroom” mix, with different vocals and a fully revamped instrumentations making it sound like an all new song with a certain familiar feel. Simply uplifting! He also took the extra mile by offering to his staunch fanbase the exclusive and previously unreleased powerful and hard-hitting groovey EBM cut “Colder” that will quickly storm the underground dancefloors.

ARMAGEDDON DILDOS then continues his revolted dancefloor assault by joining hands with good old friends and other Alfa Matrix label mates who each remix some of their most favorite tracks from the album, rendering them in pure frontal sonic aggressions with a future pop version of “Ohne Dich” by AIBOFORCEN, a violent and dirty mix by ALIEN VAMPIRES of “Burn Baby Burn” and a very elaborated industrial dance take of “Dance On Dead Bodies” by LIGHTS OF EUPHORIA, while MESSIAEN NOIR put a noir and more avantgarde melodic electronic ending to this 7-track EP release.

Percolating synths, groovy basslines, hammering beats, vocoder lines, manipulated vocal samples… so many characteristic ingredients we are so happy hearing rolling again in our tortured ears for an absolute demonstration of less-is-more melodic simplicity and edgy dynamic attitude. Inspired by an autumnal night stroll in a gloomy foggy forest evoking darkish childhood fairy tales souvenirs, this cinematic dark EBM song got reinterpreted by various artists coming from quite different musical horizons to maximize diversity and sound exoticism! Dave Anderson comes first and plunges “Heut Nacht” into a delightful and addictive hypnotic electro trance flavor.

MESSIAEN NOIR follow with an electro wave rework while label mates AD:KEY injects straight on Electronic Body Music energy to the song. German MELTING RUST OPERA take a more experimental and chaotic remixing approach and aptly rename the song, “Noise Nacht”. Hungarian industrial veteran FIRST AID 4 SOULS on their side reinforce the industrial club force of the song and give it some kind of LAIBACH-ish mechanical feel. Last but not least, FLESH WIRE close the release with a noir ambient industrial echoing deconstruction of the song!

Then comes the unexpected 2.0 version of the band’s legendary hit “Resist” that actually is a totally new song only using some slogans from the original version! Initially inspired by the Gulf War in the early 90’s, the 2.0 version got upgraded and influenced by all latent threats and other conflicts and wars raging across the world yesterday, today and tomorrow, recently stigmatised by the worrying escalations of power demonstration between North Korea and the USA. So let us all unite and sing “Resist – structures of evil” at the unison before the whole world turns into another sea of flames… The sonic assault reaches its peak on the following “The Constant Beat” with its punchy beats and its addictive call to get your body move to the “EBM” beats! The virulent and catchy “Mandy Crash” comes closer to gritty elektro punk evoking FRONT 242 singing SEX PISTOLS!

Created back in 1989 by Uwe Kanka and Dirk Krause, ARMAGEDDON DILDOS rapidly caught the ear of Talla 2XLC who signed them to his Zoth Ommog label.  With EBM club hits like “Never Mind” and “East West”, the duo instantly acquired a very strong live reputation through their explosive and high-energy performances which brought them all over the world. 

Album after album, the German boys progressively mixed their pure technoid EBM sequences with more industrial tones, and later also started fusing guitars and even pop elements into their fast sequenced electronic sounds. Their ascension also brought them collaborating with various renown producers including Keith “Fluffy” Auerbach (Ministry, Revolting Cocks, Pigface, Skinny Puppy, etc.), Bob Kraushaar (Pet Shop Boys, David Bowie, etc.), Andy Gill (Gang of Four, Michael Hutchence, etc.) or yet Mathias Black (Tommy Stumpf, The Fair Sex, Karl Bartos).

After over 10 years of intensive collaboration, Dirk and Uwe parted ways leaving Mister Kanka alone at the helm of the ARMAGEDDON DILDOS ship. Captain Uwe took the challenge and continued to carry the DILDOS flagship even further on his strong shoulders. Surrounded by a new line-up and announcing a return to a more electronic oriented type of sound, ARMAGEDDON DILDOS released “Morgengrauen” and “Sangreal” in 2003 and 2005. 

The new “Untergrund” album is packed with songs in both the German and English languages and offers a boiling cocktail of frontal minimal EBM, muscled melodic hooks, strong carrying vocals and a gritty touch of power. Reminiscent of RAMMSTEIN in the force of their powerful German vocals, ARMAGEDDON DILDOS have musically been declared the German counterpart to FRONT 242. With his new album, Uwe Kanka proves to us once again that less can be much more, and that he has that impressive talent to mix upbeat sequences, with dark synths while perfectly balancing them with catchy sing-along melodies, choruses and dynamic guitar intrusions. 

After the astounding return of LEAETHER STRIP also on Alfa Matrix, this is another big and promising return… Come! ARMAGEDDON Come! Kick us in the face! Knock us out with one punch!!
