Alfa Matrix proudly resurrects one of the most iconic and uncompromising forces of the dark electro / industrial scene: UNTER NULL.

“The Rise From Ruin [and the Ritual of Becoming]” is an exclusive limited edition double-CD digipak featuring an extended booklet and a carefully curated selection of the material that defined a generation of harsh electronic music taken from releases that have been sold out for years and remain highly sought-after by fans.

At its core stands the legendary debut album “The Failure Epiphany” – a raw and visceral manifesto that unleashed cult anthems like “Your Nightmare” and “Sick Fuck”, and established Erica Dunham as a singular, confrontational voice in a male-dominated EBM scene. Distorted vocals, relentless beats and suffocating atmospheres made UNTER NULL an instant reference in the dark elektro/industrial genre.

The second disc dives deeper into the project’s early era, compiling essential and long-deleted tracks from the “Sick Fuck”, “Sacrament” and “Absolution” Eps. A series of powerful remixes by artists such as Noisuf-X vs. X-Fusion, Grendel, Aslan Faction, KiEw and others complete this retrospective journey into controlled chaos.

More than a re-release, this double album captures the essence and intensity of UNTER NULL’s origins – uncompromising, obsessive, and brutally honest.

Following her recent return to the scene with new material, this release offers the perfect bridge – giving fans a chance to (re)discover these long unavailable works while waiting for the next chapter to unfold.

“Letting Go” is a lot darker in content, confirming to us that STRAY was neither meant to be a ‘light’ project, nor was it meant to be ‘happy’ because Erica’s main band UNTER NULL is actually quite angry and pissed off. STRAY kind of reflects the feelings of despair and sadness when that anger wears off. This album is actually a great departure from any of her previous works, it’s a lot more polished and full of layered and lush-sounding tracks. Emotional piano tunes echo with melodic electronic sequences and get accelerated by pulsing beats and vibrating bass lines led by Erica’s half-sung half-spoken poignant vocals. The material is melancholy, bittersweet, and a lot of yearning, needing, wanting, and desiring is involved. It’s about feeling disconnected from the rest of the world, from society, from your peers, from your friends, your loved ones, and your family. A track like “Out of Place” kind of sums up that feeling quite well in so many words. Other tracks, such as “No Vacancy”, “Let Me Go”, are sincere with the idea of not understanding peoples’ actions and words, and feeling frustrated without necessary closure. 

We will also notice the exciting remake of UNTER NULL’s “Failure Epiphany” or yet an open reinterpretation of The Flashbulb’s “Passage D”… The album is also available as a deluxe 2CD carton box with a bonus disc including 3 exclusive bonus tracks and remixes by Marc Hurtado / SOL IXENT, KANT KINO, GRENDEL, IVARDENSPHERE, METROLAND, INTERFACE, AESTHETISCHE, KEEF BAKER, MARI CHROME, etc.
