“Metropolis Necropolis” has that intrinsic surrealistic anger that characterized the band’s early work merging goth punk attitude, revolted guitars, addictive powerful female vocals and hard-pop catchy electro keyboards, evoking some kind of a futuristic version of SIOUXSIE & THE BANSHEES on acid or other boosted LADYTRON on steroids… Straight, sharp and incisive, this stunning new song grabs your heart with energy and wraps it with a veil of apocalyptic melancholy.

The “alternate” version of the title-song gives a more danceable twist while reinforcing its dense atmosphere, while still keeping the guitar work central amongst the bursting electronic machines. The EP ends up with a very harsh remix of the previous single “Suicidal Birds” by the infamous Belgian gang, IMPLANT who gave a noisy, grim and dirty dimension to this uplifting hi-energy nu-synth wave song.

The Italian duo then initiated collaborations with 3 other Alfa Matrix label family members offering radically different versions of this title song. 808 DOT POP appropriates the strong electro roots of the song and turns it into a high-energy synthetic groove track with old-school EBM frantic rhythm patterns and pumping basslines reminiscent to some kind of KRAFTWERK meets DEPECHE MODE synth pop hybrid. To the contrary, LLUMEN opted for a more orchestral rendition of “Suicidal Birds” plunging Noemi Aurora’s raging voice in a bath of ethereal soundscapes and giving it all its grandeur. Last but not least, the fruitful jamming studio session with IMJUDAS resulting in a dangerous and almost sexual clash of contrasts between HELALYN FLOWERS lush female vocals and IMJUDAS’ deep and dark vox, evoking a sort of unexpected collaboration between LADYTRON and GARY NUMAN with the intricate electro touch of RECOIL.

On this new “Tetrachromatic” EP, the HELALYN FLOWERS duo push the limits of the chromatic game to the next level by assigning the ambitious task to each involved remixer to not only reinterpret this song through their very own sonic kaleidoscope, but also by incorporating an emotional colour filter to their version. This spieling creative approach opens extra-channels for each collaboration for our ultimate ear pleasure.

This new release pulses like a colourful journey through different spiritual universes each represented by a colour. METROLAND and AESTHETISCHE took the blue filter, incorporating a melancholic and mysterious touch to their upbeat icy synth dance. AIBOFORCEN and MENTAL EXILE went green incorporating the two faces of nature into their work making their remix sound firm and steady but also raging and unsafe! While JUNKSISTA and SYNAPSYCHE took the red pill and toyed with passion and aggressiveness, blowing an intense and threatening and even sometimes sexual feel to the song. After which HELALYN FLOWERS themselves generated other alternate versions of “Tetrachromatic” including a yellow mix offering a light and almost dreamy flavor to this song…

IMJUDAS is the noir dyed electro-pop and dark dance solo-project from Italian artist maXX, founding member and male half of the infamous cult duo HELALYN FLOWERS. Conceptually based on inner sense of alienation, appealing surrealistic and esoteric themes, this project carries us in a shady, cinematically ‘black and white’ world deeply rooted in the early 80’s New Wave movement and aesthetic. 

It is surrounded with the lurking shadows of cult artists like Alan Wilder (DEPECHE MODE), David Bowie, Jaz Coleman (KILLING JOKE), Gary Numan, Marc Almond (SOFT CELL), Robert Smith (THE CURE) or yet Gavin Friday (VIRGIN PRUNES) that maXX started shaping IMJUDAS’ stylistic sound identity. 

Dramatic, epic and electric, “Tulpa” is the perfect tune to discover IMJUDAS!
